Such a wonderful family trip! The guide, Bain was so knowledgable and a fantastic guide! And Kirsten was great!
I was worried, as a disabled vet, that I'd be able to handle the climb, but they offered to drive me up. However, it wasn't that bad; a steep loosely paved hill.
Oh it was just a beautiful place. The land is gorgeous and the sky was AMAZING for us: San Antonio is too lit up.
      Wow!!!
If you haven't gone, it's an easy trip, really inexpensive and something worth seeing at LEAST once.

      First to Review

I can't believe I'm the first person to write a review for this place.

I came here Saturday night with a friend. It was awesome. 10 millions + bats storming out of the cave is just too cool for this California boy.

      Few helpful hints:

      1) The map to this place isn't too helpful. From San Antonio, just map to Concan, Texas. Take freeway 90 to Freeway 127, then left on FM 2690 (Which is about 5 miles away from Concan). As soon as you turn left, about half mile down, you can see a river, although if you drive there in July like us, it will be dried up. There will be a sign on the right (not very visible IMO). If you drive more than a mile, you passed already, turn back.

      2) Both Sprint and Verizon doesn't work here, so if you have Groupon for this place, make sure you bring a hard copy. They will let you in if you didn't bring it, they just ask you to email them later.

      3) You have to drive through a dirt road, your car will get dusty.

Great place for family outing. Very cool place, I recommend to everyone.

We had such a good time at the Frio bat tour. Watching the huge population of Mexican free tail bats exit was amazing.

One of the most interesting things I've ever witnessed.

Exceptional tour! If you enjoy the magnificent wonders of nature, you won't want to miss this annual migratory feat. The most amazing gathering and flight of Mexican Free Tail bats I have ever seen. The guide, Mr. Walker, enjoys what he does, so he is very good and knowledgeable about the history of the land, cave, and of course, the caves 12 + million migrating tenants. For $12 a person, you'll witness nature at its best. Bring plenty of questions as it always puts your group at ease. Some folks tend to get a little nervous when 12 million bats are flying all around you. It's awesome, check it out!!! T-shirts at the gate to remind you of your trip $19.95. Bring insect repellant and a flashlight to get back to your car. It's pretty dark out there. Enjoy!!

I have been on the deer lease where the bat flight is located for more then 10 years now and even though I have seen it hundreds of time I am still amazed to see swarm of bats flighting out by the millions!!! If your even in Concan I highly recommend you go and see these.
